Mastering Tajweed Rules and the Ten Readings A Comprehensive Course for Non-Arabic Speakers
This course is specifically designed to bridge the gap between the student’s native language and the language of the Holy Quran. We aim to teach correct pronunciation, from the precise articulation of letters to mastery of the ten canonical readings. Students will learn how to recite the Quran as it was revealed, with clear explanations in English (or an intermediate language) to simplify even the most complex phonetic rules, making the journey from “hesitant” to “proficient” Quranic recitation enjoyable and accessible.
Requirements
- Basic Reading Proficiency: Knowledge of Arabic letters and diacritics (Noorani Qaida level).
- The Tajweed Quran: A digital or printed copy showing the punctuation marks.
- A Guide to the Readings (PDF): We will provide comparative tables of the readings (such as Warsh and Hafs).
Target Audience
- Muslim students of Islamic knowledge: those residing in Western countries and speaking English.
- Imams and preachers: those wishing to deepen their knowledge of the different Quranic readings.
- Teachers: those seeking certifications with a continuous chain of transmission (isnad).
Course Curriculum
Beyond mere pronunciation, we will explore the history of the Quran's compilation and how it reached us fresh and pure through generations and a continuous chain of transmission.
Intensive training on letters that are difficult for non-Arabs to pronounce (such as ΨΆ, ΨΉ, and Ψ).
What is the difference between a narration, a reading, and a path? And how do we combine the different readings in a single recitation?
The importance of understanding the meaning to determine where to pause and how to begin without compromising the Quranic meaning.
How to practice collecting the minor and major readings in a practical and organized manner.
